How OCG compares
How OCG relates to copyright, robots.txt, TDMRep, C2PA and platform settings.
Does OCG register copyright or collect royalties?
No. OCG records your identity and AI choices. Copyright still applies to your songs, videos, recordings and artwork. OCG does not decide who owns every work or collect royalties for you.
Is this anti-AI?
No. We want Creators to benefit from AI. You can allow a use, ask people to seek permission or say no. The aim is to give you a say in how AI uses your identity.
How is OCG different from India’s AI-copyright proposal?
OCG records choices about AI use of your identity. The policy proposal concerns use of copyrighted work and payment for it. They cover different things. OCG does not replace copyright or a legal licensing system.
Is OCG just robots.txt?
No. robots.txt gives instructions to tools that read a website. OCG links your identity and accounts to your own AI choices. Letting a tool read those choices does not mean letting it copy or train on your identity.
How is it different from TDMRep, C2PA or other existing standards?
They address related but different needs. Some standards record where a file came from or how it changed. Others signal rules for reading or training on content. OCG brings a Creator’s identity and choices into one record. It can work alongside these standards.
How is it different from a 'do not train on me' statement in a bio?
A bio can tell people what you want. OCG also puts your choices in a format machines can read and links them to your accounts. It gives you a signed record of those choices. You get one place outside a single social platform to show them, without building a website.
How is OCG different from a platform's AI-training toggle?
A platform setting works under that platform’s rules. OCG gives you a separate public record that other services can read too. It does not change the contracts you have with a platform.
Why would OCG still be needed if platforms or model companies build these features themselves?
Your identity can span many platforms. OCG gives you one public record to manage and share across them. New platform features may work alongside it or cover some of the same needs.
Who runs OCG? Does every company use its standard?
Sparkonomy runs OCG. It uses open formats to publish identity and AI choices. That does not mean every AI company has adopted it or that an independent standards body runs it.
Is OCG the only product like this?
OCG brings your public identity, social-account checks and six AI-use choices into one record. We explain those features rather than claim it is the only product working on this problem.
